Are air purifiers a necessity or a gimmick? We'll help you figure it out once and for all.
Are you in any of the following situations?
You have just finished renovation, even if you open the window to ventilate for 3-6 months before moving in, formaldehyde, benzene and other harmful gases will be released continuously from wall paint and furniture. What if it is too hot in summer or too cold in winter to open the windows for a long time?
If you are renting an apartment, are you worried that the wall paint and furniture will release harmful gases? You are renting a house, but your health is your own!
If you are deep in a haze-hit area or an industrial zone, you need to consider removing solid particle pollutants such as PM 2.5 from the air in your home.
If you are a smoker or have heavy frying fumes, you want to remove airborne particles and odors quickly. If you have pets, you want to remove germs, flying hairs, and odors produced by your pets on a daily basis. You who are allergy-prone and have rhinitis, you are sensitive to pollen, floating dust, etc. and need clean air.So today Susan is here to talk to you about air purifiers

Do we need an air purifier?
01 What are we worried about?
After renovation: formaldehyde, benzene and other harmful gases continue to be released for more than 10 years
When it's hazy: PM2.5
People who keep pets: hair, germs, odor in the home
Sensitive people: pollen, floating dust, etc.
Elderly children and pregnant women: weaker immunity, need cleaner and safer air.
△ Not only after the renovation, pet families should pay attention to air purification ~
02 What is the best way?
The best way: Open windows and ventilate the air
On days when there is no haze, the best way to remove formaldehyde and other harmful gases from renovation is to open windows and ventilate the house, there is no other way. Home frying fumes, smokers boyfriends create second-hand smoke, pet odors, indoor carbon dioxide concentration is too high and other problems, open windows and ventilation is also the fastest way to alleviate.
However, we can't open the windows all year round. Close the windows in summer when the air conditioning is on, in winter when the heating is on, in spring when the pollen and willow are full, in winter when there is haze, in some areas when there are dust storms or when there is construction pollution.
The second best method: fresh air system
The principle of fresh air is to constantly change the outdoor air in, and at the same time do a good job of filtering, which is equivalent to constantly replacing indoor air with clean air; at the same time, a certain positive pressure is formed indoors, so that unfiltered outdoor air will not enter through the door cracks and window cracks, etc.. A good set of new air system can not only remove formaldehyde and other decoration gases, PM2.5 and other solid particles, all kinds of odor, but also effectively reduce the concentration of indoor carbon dioxide, to maintain indoor oxygenation. Therefore, the new air system may be the most effective to maintain clean indoor air “big electricity”, have the conditions or install it.
However, not all houses have the conditions at any time to install a new wind, not all families have the budget to install a new wind: ducted air system, generally need to be in the rough room before the renovation of the planning, or in the second-hand housing overall hard remodeling before the planning of the house, but also depends on the type of house, look at the height of the floor, the old house generally do not have the conditions for installation; and, expensive! Not only is it expensive to buy new air, but it is also expensive to install. Wall-mounted new air conditioner, you have to make holes in the wall or glass in the right place, and even more so if you are renting a house.
Can't open the window also can't install new air method: air purifier
If we don't have the conditions to install a new air system, and we want to solve the above problems of harmful gases, polluted particles, odor, etc., then an air purifier is the best choice. The principle of an air purifier is to suck indoor air into the machine, filter it through layers of filters, and then blow clean air out. Depending on the filter and technology, different objects can be removed. Removing dust, hair, particles, etc. is the basic function, while some professional machines can remove formaldehyde, benzene, etc., and some of them also have sterilization function.
03 Air purifier for the removal of formaldehyde useful?
Generally speaking, to meet the national standards of the regular brand of air purifiers, its primary filter and HEPA filter, through physical filtration and electrostatic adsorption, can remove hair fibers, dander, large particles, pollen, soot, small particles PM2.5, etc., we just need to choose a higher value of the CADR value and the higher CCM value of the machine can be.
However, many people are skeptical about whether the removal of harmful gases such as formaldehyde is effective.
Therefore, we purposely looked for a freshly renovated house, and two air purifiers with higher price points. After a few days of comparison experiments, we tested the effectiveness of the two high-end air purifiers in reducing the levels of formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene and TVOC. From the results of this experiment, professional air purifiers are definitely useful for formaldehyde and TVOC reduction.
Formaldehyde is familiar to everyone and is known to be harmful. the level of TVOC should not be disregarded.

TVOC is total volatile organic compounds, including formaldehyde and benzene, but also other organic gases that are harmful to health. Its toxicity, irritation, carcinogenicity, may cause diseases of the immune system, respiratory system, nervous system, digestive system, blood, etc., light dizziness, vomiting, skin allergies, fatigue and drowsiness, or lead to asthma, leukemia and so on. Especially for children, pregnant women, the elderly, etc., must pay attention.
If you have just finished renovating the house: we recommend that before you move in, open the windows like crazy for a few months, open to the professional team to test the air quality results meet the standards; purifier is for after the move in, because formaldehyde, benzene, TVOC will continue to evaporate for a long time, so either open the window, or open the purifier, bear in mind.
How to choose an air purifier?

A look at the CADR value
CADR value, is the clean air output ratio. the higher the CADR value, the faster the purification speed, on behalf of the purifier's purification efficiency is higher. If you want to remove both PM2.5 and formaldehyde, you need to pay attention to both the solid CADR value and the gas CADR value. the higher the CADR value of the air purifier, the larger the indoor area that can be purified. The applicable area is generally CADR value * 0.07 ~ CADR value * 0.12. On the other hand, to purify the same area of the room, the higher the CADR value, the shorter the time required.
CCM value
CCM value is the cumulative purification capacity, the higher the CCM value, the greater the cumulative amount of pollutants that can be filtered by the filter, which means the longer the service life of the filter and the lower the long-term replacement cost. Similarly, it is divided into solid CCM value and gas CCM value. The following table is the new national standard for CCM grade division, only divided into grades, without labeling the specific value, it is likely that the cumulative total weight of formaldehyde purification 1500mg and 9000mg of the two products are labeled F4. so we can not only look at the grade, but also look at the brand to provide professional testing organizations test report.
Three look at the noise
The smaller the noise, the better, of course. If the noise of the purifier is too loud, it will affect our work and life during the day, and it will affect our sleep quality at night. So look at how the noise of each gear of a purifier is, especially whether the noise of the sleep gear is acceptable. The noise level is related to the type of motor. The noise of DC brushless motor is relatively small, and the noise of AC inverter motor is relatively large.
Four look at the cartridge
How many layers of cartridges, each layer of material, structure, filtration object, we need to pay attention to. In addition, we need to pay attention to how long it takes to replace the cartridge, and the price of replacing the cartridge.
Five look at the design
Whether the appearance value meets our aesthetics, whether the operation interaction is convenient, whether it can be controlled remotely by App, whether the content of the digital display is comprehensive, whether there are wheels at the bottom for easy moving, whether it is good to dismantle/clean/replace the cartridge, all of these are selection factors that need to be paid attention to.
Summary of selection principles
To summarize, high CADR value, high CCM value, low noise, good design, the cartridge meets our needs and the subsequent replacement cost is low.
